About
I started playing golf in Cyprus when I was 33. The course was at Dhekelia an army Garrison on a British Sovereign Base area. This was a course that had a sandy area which had been oiled (in lieu of greens) which you swept from the center outwards after playing the hole. I am self taught and had about 3 lessons in my golfing career. I was good enough to play for the RAF in Cyprus where we beat the Army in an inter service golf competition. My other wins in Cyprus was 2nd place in the handicap section, narrowly losing on the 18th hole in the final. I continued to play on and off in Stornoway on the isle of Lewis and in the year 2000 won the golf handicap section and also won the One day open in the annual Golf Week. Today I like to practice and play once a week. This is a picture of me and my golfing buddy Ray Crabtree.
