“Update as of May 27, 2022”
The bridge closures are now halted until the next scheduled girder installation in August. NCDOT’s Barksdale stated, “We’ll repeat the same process and close this bridge twice a day for most of August to complete the girder installation. Those remaining girders will be placed on the north side and set into place by the same crane from the north bank of the river. This upcoming process in August will complete the girder installations.”
Members should know that the bridge on 701 over Cape Fear is scheduled to close for 1 hour between 9:00 and 10:00 am and 2:00 and 3:00 pm.
